Preston started out the star-studded
evening with his unique blend of jazz standards from the 1940 & 1950's, gradually bringing up the tempo to a boil
that became infectious for the guests...
Tom Hanks
and others quickly joined in to show how far they could really get down.
The dancing continued to the
early hours of the morning, leaving everyone happily exhausted (not bad for a Wednesday night!)
Marvin Hamlish seized the opportunity
to add his immense talent to wish Sydney Pollock a Happy Birthday tribute to by performing the song "Happy Birthday"
in a number of different styles that showed his piano prowess in a comedic way of playing the simple song in the style
of Chopan,Motzart,And Beethoven this added a fun flavor to the romping scenario . Then later by performing
some romantic songs with Barbra at the helm especially written for this occasion then proceeded later on the boogie-woogie
style piano along side Preston and his band... This Man had command of every piano style !!!!
